A Biblical Timeline Chart Gives A Creative Approach To Aid And Help Teach Biblical Events And Characters And Truths

In our Sunday Bible class years ago, a lady who had been a Christian and worked in the Church for years, made this statement,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they weren't referring to the pre-Moses law) I wonder just how many Christians will actually pick up the inaccuracy in this statement. Moses existed about five hundred years after Abraham and so it is an impossibility. I have since made up a Bible timeline and shown graphically the dating of individuals and events.

Years ago, I was preaching on the life, burial, resurrection and death of Jesus Christ, and a retired minister and strong preacher of Scripture, who had been a pastor for 40 years, came to me and reproved me smartly over some interesting points I made and he remarked 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I quietly asked him if I had been saying anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he answered"No". I continued to explain that in the case of that particular Scripture, it was not speaking to exploring Scripture but to the false teaching and philosophy of the Gnostics, but he would not accept it. Let me ask, how can a 40 year preacher & worker in the Gospel, not know and understand about a thing that probably 1/2 the books of the New Testament discuss?
How could he understand and teach the Bible fully without knowing about a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to comprehend these things and be able to understand their Bible well, if they are not told?
Let's us as tutors and preachers stitch together the aspects of God's Word and God's plan into a complete picture that our people can draw on for the remainder of their lives, to help them to comprehend God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and ways to better translate the Bible to model our lives by.
It is not hard to do, and it is not boring if we are ready to put in a bit of study and prayer and fervor, and just maybe you can employ a Bible Timeline as well.
